Hun Sen wrote on Facebook on June 20 that Cambodia is ready to resolve past cases that Thailand has already threatened on the internet, electricity, labor, and now the oil game as a weapon against Cambodia. The ruling party leader advised the Cambodian government to consider and take the initiative by diverting purchases from Thailand so that Thailand no longer has reason to threaten Cambodia. Cambodia should also suspend imports of all kinds of canned goods, from alcohol, energy drinks, canned fish or canned meat, and instead use local products or products imported from countries other than Thailand. Since the Cambodia-Thailand border dispute in late May, the Thai military has unilaterally closed the border. In response, Cambodia has blocked all Thai imports of vegetables and fruits across its border and has filed a case in the Mom Tri region, including the Ta Moan Toch Temple, Ta Moan Thom Temple and Ta Krabei Temple, with the International Court of Justice (ICJ) to resolve the dispute, although the Thai military has warned that if the military takes over the areas, it will not recognize the jurisdiction of the international court.
Senate President Hun Sen responded to the Thai opposition that if the Thai government stops selling oil to Cambodia, Cambodia will not die, but the Thai company PTT, which is doing business in Cambodia, will die. Hun Sen also said that PTT has a gas station in Cambodia, but if Thailand stops importing its oil into Cambodia, how will the company handle it or will it have to buy oil from other countries to sell in Cambodia?
